One of the best ways to increase your conversion rates (CVR) and return on investment (ROI) is by having GREAT social branding.

To start, you should be utilizing a combination of at least 3 or more social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, YouTube, and Pinterest.

Choose which of these 3 platforms you feel will be most effective at getting your message across. You can always add more later.

It’s important to understand that having great Social Branding means more than just having a few social media accounts. Your online identity must be appealing to prospects.

People want to do business with people they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST, which is why you want to position yourself in a favorable way that is appealing to EVERYONE.

So, let’s get started!

NAME
Make sure to use your real name, or whatever name you use professionally. As trivial as this may sound, its one of the biggest mistakes people make.

One of the first things a prospect does when considering to do business with someone is research them online, especially when it comes to high-ticket items.

If they can’t find you, it may leave them with an uncomfortable feeling, and they’ll most likely use someone else.

Remember, people want to do business with people they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST, so having a strong online presence is crucial to building rapport with potential customers.

Furthermore, your Name and Social Handle should be the same. For example, if your name is John Smith, your handle should be @johnsmith, or something very similar.

If you have a common name like John Smith, you may have to get creative and use something like @jsmith or @iamjohns, because your name might already be taken.

Also, you never want to use a handle that sounds unprofessional, or one that might offend someone. Keep it simple, use your name or a close variation.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for you to use your professional name and a handle that makes sense. Make it easy for people to find you.

IMAGERY
Your profile photo is a huge part of your personal branding, so invest in yourself! Hire a professional photographer to take some great photographs of you, and use one of them as your profile pic.

Also, something very important to note – “Photography speaks a thousand words”. Always remember that quote!

Before you post a photo of yourself dancing half naked and drunk on a bar in Vegas, stop and think to yourself – “Will this cause me to lose business?”

If you have to think about it, don’t post it.

CONTINUITY
This is very important…Make sure that you use the same name, profile photo, AND handle for ALL of your social media accounts. Social continuity is really important. Make it easy for people to find you!

Again, use the same name, profile photo, and handle for every account. If your handle is only available on 2 platforms, decide on another handle.

CONTENT
Okay, this is extremely important…CONTENT can make or break you!

You have to understand that people are looking for any reason NOT to do business with you, so don’t give them one.

I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had people reach out to us and say, “I can’t get people to call me back?”. Well, have you seen your posts?!

THE FASTEST WAY to automatically lose 50% of your business is by posting political rants!

I don’t care what your political affiliations are, it’s just not a good idea to post about politics. I assure you, you will NOT change the world by posting your political opinions on social media, but you WILL lose 50% of your business by alienating people who disagree with your viewpoints.

Always remain neutral on social media. Be likable!

Also, habitually posting negative or mean-spirited content is a major turn off to clients. Instead, post positive, uplifting content that is relevant to your business or career.

RELEVANCY
Your social relevance is very important when building trust with prospects!

Make sure to regularly post content that educates people on your field of expertise. This will help build trust by positioning you as a leader within your professional network AND local community.

Also, invite your friends, family, and colleagues to like and follow your socials. Having 3 or 4 likes isn’t a good look. Ideally, you want to have 1000s.

Having great numbers is a surefire way to build trust with people and grow your business.
